What They Don’t Tell You About Careers in Construction

The FloriFence team is lucky to have passionate woodworkers and installation specialists who love their careers in construction. However, as experienced professionals, we can attest to the fact that it is not an easy industry to break into. If you’re interested in beginning a career in construction, fencing is a great place to start. FloriFence is always looking for qualified workers to join our team, but there are a few things you should know before you start.

The work is hard but the pay is worth it.

Construction jobs require a lot of physical labor and long hours, especially for the first few years of your career. This isn’t for everyone, but if you’re willing to put in the work you can earn a very good living in construction. Considering the fact that you don’t have to attend a four-year university to enter the construction field, most jobs offer incredibly competitive salaries.

Apprenticeships and trade school can help you level up.

Most construction workers get into the industry through entry-level jobs, but a formal education can help you advance more quickly. Trade school or apprenticeship programs can help you gain higher-paying jobs, and are still more affordable than most college degrees.

But, formal education isn’t always required.

While a trade school education or apprenticeship can help advance your career, they are not required for many different construction jobs. If you put in the work and find your niche, there is no reason why you can’t earn a good living in construction without anything but a high school diploma.

The best time to start is now.

Construction careers can be incredible, but they are easier to start when you are younger. Because most construction jobs require a lot of physical labor, the younger you start the easier it will be to work at a place where you can one day own your own company or transition into something less physical later in your career.

If you’re interested in starting your construction career, contact FloriFence today about open positions and options for training.
