Styles of Wire Fencing

At FloriFence, we install a lot of wire fencing for homes, businesses, farms, and other properties. Wire fencing is typically used to keep something in, such as chickens or pets, or to keep something out, such as wildlife from your gardens. However, that doesn’t mean you’re limited in your style options. Below are a few popular wire fence designs you can use to make your practical fencing more stylized:

Welded Wire Fence

Welded wire fencing is one of the most sturdy wire fence options. It is configured in a woven pattern and welded at the intersections to create strong bonds. This type of wire fence is less flexible than woven wire, but provides a stronger barrier for livestock and security fencing.

Chain-Link Fencing

Chain link fencing is woven together rather than welded, making a more flexible but less sturdy fence style. It is ideal for Florida homes because it can bend and stretch during hurricanes and thunderstorms. However, because it isn’t welded together, it can unravel more easily if broken. Chain link is the most common type of wire fencing used for commercial and residential applications.

Barbed Wire Fencing

Barbed wire is a type of steel wire fencing that features sharp barbs as a deterrent. Barbed wire can be used to protect livestock or in high-security properties such as prisons. Not all properties are allowed to have barbed wire (residences are rarely permitted) so check with your municipal regulations before installing it.

Wire fencing is both practical and stylistic when designed and installed correctly. If you need wire fencing for your home, business, or other property, give us a call today!
