How to Decorate Your Home’s Front Entrance For Fall and Winter

At FloriFence, we love the fall season! The weather cools down enough for us to enjoy some extra outdoor time, and we can experience all the beauty that Florida has to offer this time of year. Part of that beauty is the change of season not only in nature but in homes and neighborhoods around Tampa. If you’re someone who loves to get in the holiday spirit, there’s so much more you can do to your home outdoors as well as inside.

If you’re looking for ways to spruce up your home for the holidays, try these # front entrance decorating ideas:

Hydrangea wreaths and garlands

Hydrangeas are a common flower grown in Florida because it thrives in our climate with moderate care. However, these bright summer flowers fade and turn beautiful autumnal colors just in time for Thanksgiving. Get the most out of your hydrangeas by clipping them and turning them into fall wreaths, garlands, and more for your front yard.

Poinsettias to line the doorstep

When your fall flowers begin to wilt, you can replace them with the perfect winter flower – poinsettias. These are easy to find in stores and nurseries in December and provide an elegant doorstep decoration that will last through the holidays.

Watering can planters

Many gardens lay dormant in the winter, even in Florida, which means you can get alternate use of your watering cans by turning them into planters. Add sunflowers, cattails, or other autumn foliage to your watering can for a farm-chic look perfect for Thanksgiving.

Fall welcome mat

Welcome mats are a great feature to change out of your front entrance to match the seasons or occasions of each year. When guests come over for Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner, you can greet them with a cute holiday-themed mat to say “you’re welcome here.”

Foliage for your fence

If you have front yard fencing, this is a great opportunity to extend your front entrance decorating into the yard. This is especially important if you have a gate blocking the front entrance or fencing that extends close to the walkway.
