Four Best Vertical-Growing Plants For The Fenceline

Spring is just around the corner which means now is the time to start thinking about your summer backyard. With a new fence, you’ll be able to grow a variety of climbing vines and greenery that you wouldn’t be able to support before.

If you want to spruce up your garden this spring with some beautiful greenery for your fence try these four climbing vines:

Clematis

Clematis is a beautiful evergreen climber that will grow along your fence or trellis and bloom with delicate, fragrant flowers in the spring and summer. Even as the blooms die, the foliage will remain bright and vibrant to add visual interest to your fence line.

Confederate jasmine

Also known as star jasmine, this is an easy vine to grow in Florida that will cover your fence with beautiful, fragrant white flowers. The scent is subtle and sweet and will make your fence a favorite spot for butterflies and other pollinators.

Ivy

You can grow all types of ivy in the backyard to add ground cover as well as greenery to your fence line. Most ivy plants are safe to grow in the backyard and their multicolored leaves can make your backyard look more vibrant. However, be careful which species you grow to avoid potentially hazardous ivy on your property.

Honeysuckle

Honeysuckle is a common climbing vine in the South that is known for its delicious and fragrant blooms in the spring. This flowering vine will quickly cover your fence, so be sure to prune often and avoid overgrowth.
