Backyard Activities to Do This Fall and Winter

In Florida, we are blessed with a very mild fall and winter season. In fact, it’s not unusual for native Floridians to wear shorts and flip-flops as late as Christmas! However, when the temperatures cool down into the 60s and 70s, most of us want to take advantage of as much outdoor time as possible. If you’re looking for ways to enjoy the cool weather without going out of town try these four fun activities you can do from your own backyard: 

Backyard Scavenger Hunt

A backyard scavenger hunt is an easy activity to set up for the kids that will keep them entertained all afternoon while you enjoy the fresh, chilly air. Hide household objects around the yard and add some natural scenery to your list, and time your kids to see how long it takes them to finish. This is a great playdate activity as well as one you can do with just the family. 

Birdhouse Painting

In Florida, we see many migratory birds, butterflies, and other animals in our area that we don’t see in the summertime. This makes the fall and winter in some instances a more active part of our natural landscape than the spring and summer. Take advantage of this by spending some time outdoors painting a new birdhouse, and watch as a family builds their nest for the winter. 

Holiday Decorating
